Correlation of Geothermal Water Exploitation On Deep Groundwater In North China Basin: A Case Study In North Shandong Plain

Shandong Province is rich in geothermal resources and has good conditions for exploitation. The north Shandong plain has relatively high heat flow values and water-rich thermal reservoirs compared with other regions, and is the richest area with geothermal resources. The main geothermal development formation in the area is the thermal reservoir of the Guanotao Formation, and the type of geothermal reservoir is mainly the Paleo - Neogene sandstone fractured pore laminated thermal reservoir. Based on more than 20 years of long-term dynamic data on deep groundwater and geothermal water level, water quality and water temperature, and the results of various geothermal geological surveys, the dynamic evolution of deep groundwater and geothermal water in the north Shandong plain was discussed, and the vertical distribution and lithological characteristics of deep groundwater aquifers and geothermal reservoirs were identified, with the two being separated vertically by the lower section of the Minghuazhen Formation and the upper section of Guantao Formation , which is more than 500m thick and the lithology of the formation is mainly mud shale water barrier, The water level dynamics of the deep groundwater and the geothermal water are controlled by their respective extraction volumes, and their evolution trends are significantly different; the hydrochemical characteristics of the deep groundwater and the geothermal water are completely different, and the content of the water chemical components has remained stable for many years; the water temperature of the geothermal water has remained stable for a number of years. This proves that there is no hydraulic connection between the two and that geothermal water development will not affect the deep groundwater environment.
