Under The Carbon Emission Peak and Neutrality Goal: Development and Utilization Prospects of Geothermal Energy In China
China has announced that it aims to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and realize carbon neutrality before 2060. As a clean and low-carbon renewable energy with abundant reserves, geothermal energy is of great significance for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the transformation of energy structure. In order to explore the utilization potential of geothermal resources and its contribution to achieve the carbon emission goal of China, the characteristics and utilization status of geothermal resources in China are summarized. Based on China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the “Dual-Carbon" goal, the prospects of geothermal industry and the development trend of geothermal energy detection, extraction and utilization are discussed, and suggestions on technological innovation, industry complementarity, policy incentives, and standardized management are put forward.
